Community Diagnostic Centre (CDC)

The Community Diagnostic Centre (CDC) at Congleton War Memorial Hospital is a new facility designed to provide a range of diagnostic tests and services closer to home. This centre, funded with £5 million from the NHS England community diagnostics programme, aims to offer a 'one-stop shop' for various diagnostic needs.

The centre opened in December 2025 and includes seven clinic rooms, a state-of-the-art X-ray suite, and welcoming patient areas with amenities designed for comfort and accessibility. It provides a wide range of diagnostic tests and services, helping to reduce waiting times and support early detection of health conditions.

Services include imaging (X-ray and Non-Obstetric Ultrasound), as well as cardio-respiratory physiological testing such as Electrocardiography (ECG), Echocardiograms, and other specialist tests.

Comprising 13 modular units, the building was designed and constructed by Premier Modular, ensuring a high-quality, sustainable solution that will serve the community for generations to come.

Frequently Asked Questions

Community Diagnostic Centre's provide patients with a co-ordinated set of diagnostic tests in the community and in as few visits as possible, enabling an accurate and fast diagnosis on a range of clinical pathways.

The CDC is focused on diagnostic testing, your results will then be passed to the most appropriate care provider, this could be back to you GP or passed onto a consultant at the hospital.

The diagnostic testing that you receive at the CDC is of the same standard as the diagnostic testing that would be received on the hospital sites. There is no difference in the care you will receive, the benefit is that by sending the appropriate patients to the appropriate diagnostic sites it should speed up waiting times for diagnostic tests.
